How it works

  1. 1.

    Write

Type the lyrics like a note and click chords from your key's palette. Sections name themselves in the margin.

  2. 2.

    Transpose

One tap moves the whole chart to the singer's key; numerals, palette and spelling follow along.

  3. 3.

    Play together

Present the setlist. The band joins with a room code and every phone shows its own instrument's part.

Free is the whole notebook

Everything a songwriter needs to write, keep and play their songs, free forever.

Chords over lyrics, as you type

Write lyrics like a note. Click a chord from your key's palette and it rides above the exact syllable, and sections name themselves in the margin.

Transpose and capo without rewriting

Shift any chart to the singer's key in one tap. Capo mode keeps your familiar shapes while the sounding key changes.

Setlists with performance keys

Order the night, give each song its own key for this lineup, and open every chart ready to go.

PDFs that come back alive

Export any song as a clean PDF. Re-import it later and you get the exact editable chart back, not a text soup.

A chord explorer that explains itself

Tap any chord to see what it's made of, which tones matter, and how it works in your key, with real piano and guitar shapes.

Practice with playback

The Track view plays your chords with a metronome, tempo and meter saved per song.

Questions, answered

Is SongSheet free?

Yes. Writing, transposing, setlists, single-song PDF export and the chord explorer are free forever, with no account needed. Pro ($4.99/month or $39/year) adds AI Import, the Voicings and Arrange workstation, whole-setlist PDFs and live band sessions.

Do I need an account?

No. SongSheet is local-first: your songs live on your device and everything works without signing in. Signing in adds sync across devices and is how Pro unlocks.

Who can see my lyrics?

Only you. Your charts stay on your device (and in your own synced account if you sign in). There is no public library and no sharing of your content.

How do band sessions work?

You present a setlist from your device; bandmates join from their phones with a short room code. Each member picks their instrument and reading key and sees their own part, on stage or over the internet.

Do exported PDFs re-import?

Yes, exactly. Every SongSheet PDF embeds the full chart, so importing it back gives you the same editable song, not a lossy text scrape.

What do I need for MIDI melody capture?

Any MIDI keyboard and a desktop browser with Web MIDI. Recording counts you in for a bar, and captured melodies stay anchored to your chords through edits and transposition (Pro).
